Terms of use for players

Walkaloot is offered as it is, free of charge, and may change or end at any time. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial play. An account is optional; when you sign in, the squares you clear, the treasures you find and hide, your points, your nickname, your picture and the words about yourself are stored on our servers so that they follow you from phone to phone. Your position is used on the phone to clear fog and is uploaded only as the identifiers of the squares you have cleared, with their times, and of the squares inside a cleared pocket where you picked up a treasure. We keep no movement track. You are responsible for what you hide as a treasure: nothing unlawful, hateful, harmful or private to another person, and nothing you have no right to publish. We may remove treasures, pictures, nicknames or accounts that break this. Deleting your account removes what we hold about you, except the record of which squares were discovered first, which is kept without your name.

Disclaimer

You move in the real world. The map, the fog and the treasures are a game drawn over it, and the game knows nothing about traffic, private property, water, cliffs, railways, weather or any other danger where you are. In traffic, on water and in rough terrain you can be seriously injured or killed. Where you go, and how, is your own decision and your own responsibility at all times. Never look at the phone instead of the road. Respect private property, closed areas and other people. To the extent permitted by law, the maker of the game is not responsible for where you go while playing, for any injury to or death of you or others, or for any damage to property or the environment that happens while you play or on your way to or from playing. Positions from your phone are approximate and may be wrong; the game may misjudge whether you are walking or riding, and may miss or misplace a treasure. Treasures hidden by other players and organisations are theirs, not ours: we do not check them beforehand and we do not promise that any treasure, offer or reward is real, available or as described.

Loot Drop: terms for businesses and communities

The business or community is responsible for the content of its treasures and for handing over the prizes it promises. Nothing unlawful, misleading, offensive or unsuitable for minors may be dropped, and we may remove a drop that is.

Payments, cancellations and refunds

Playing is free. Only Loot Drops, which businesses and communities buy on the web, are paid for.

Prices include VAT. Payments are handled by Stripe, and the seller is Link (Stripe), which takes care of VAT and sends the receipt. A drop is activated as soon as the payment is confirmed. If a paid drop cannot be activated – for example it was already activated with a coupon or paid twice – the payment is refunded in full automatically. An activated drop cannot be cancelled and its payment is not refunded. If something went wrong, write to [email protected].
